Fernie Castle – would you like to get married in this Fairy Tale Castle?
I really like Fernie Castle’s motto for wedding couples ‘You don’t have to be a Princess to marry in a Castle! – We will treat you like one.‘ And, wow you do feel like a Princess when you choose this venue. It has everything you would want in a country castle setting, lots of character of the past with the comforts today’s visitors expect.
This 450 year old castle is set in its own woodland and gardens in north-east Fife, Scotland, not far from St Andrews. It is situated just east of the village of Letham. The Castle was originally in an L-plan layout. However, the house has been much altered and extended since, notably additions made in the Scottish baronial style in the nineteenth century.
Fernie Castle currently operates as a hotel run by Neil and Mary Blackburn. The Castle is registered for both Civil and Religious Ceremonies. As you are able to see from the photographs below, wedding couples have an option of either having a wedding ceremony indoor or outdoor.
The Castle can cater for 50 to 155 guests for a sit down meal and up to 180 guests for drinks, in the Balfour Suite and up to 50 persons in the Great Hall.
Couples who choose the venue often comment on what a fantastic venue for their Big Day it was. They mention that food was exceptional along with very helpful and friendly staff who catered for their every request. They say that they could not asked for a better reception. Additionally I do observe that everybody feels relaxed and at ease at the Castle. That’s how you want to feel on your wedding day!
I have photographed a number of weddings at Fernie Castle. And few blog posts from the Fernie Castle portfolio are available below.
